some people move through your life

Some people move through your life

unnoticed

then surprisingly appear

in a fierce dream

reminding you

of that time

a husband

who saved you long ago

discarded

leaving unknowable ache

people have moved in and out

passionately

lovingly

distinctly themselves

holding your gaze

lovingly

holding your hand

tenderly

as they say goodbye

some people lodge themselves

in hurtful angles

your body can't pass them through

like my son

posterior

just couldn't get out

except by the knife

he now moves in and out of my life

the scar

above my pubis

a bodily reminder

some people are beautiful stories

complete

with beginning middle and

unfolding

to express

their soft tender belly

i love those people

vulnerable to me

to this world

now shut down

locking us away

from each other

to be safe

fuck safety

I howl

I want to be next to you

touch your sweet face

so many people can't move through my life

I am in a waiting room

not knowing

when I will be let out or in

or by whom
